ABSTRACT: The objective of this paper is to evaluate the propagation of a flood wave caused by a dam failure using one and two-dimensional modelling. That approach was applied to the case of the Rio de Pedras Dam, which is located in the Velhas River Basin in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
